And on the 7th Day God did an Easy 3

This is one of my favorite slogans that our team had put on our  running shirt when I was the Assistant Cross Country Coach at Visitation Grade School.  I remember when the kids came up with this and how nervous we were when we approached Sr. Thomas to see if she would let us use this statement.  Nothing gets by Sr. Thomas and as the principal of the school, she has the final say on everything.  And, that is a good thing because it provides consistency.  After all, our uniform shirts would be seen by every school in the Suburban Parochial League so it had to be classy.  I remember when we told the kids that we could use this slogan, they were so happy!  Over the years, I have seen this slogan used by other schools and it always brings a smile to my face.  My 10 year old son has finally grown into the shirt I bought for him back then, he was 5 at the time, so this brings back great memories when I see him wearing it.  He is wearing it today and I am smiling.

So today is Monday and I was going to do a 12 mile run at the Arboretum.  Unfortunately, it had to be rescheduled and I guess that old saying of everything happens for a reason is true.  I completely misjudged my recovery time from my long run on Sunday.  When I got up to start my day, my legs reminded me of the activity that I had done the day before.  They were stiff and asking for some time off.  So, instead of running, I spent some quality time with my son and husband shooting baskets in our backyard.  It was a Federal Holiday so both of them had the day off.  Although my son is getting better and my husband has an awesome hook shot, I am still the Queen of the Court.  Better luck next time guys!

I spent a good part of the day outside walking the dog, shooting baskets and throwing a football with my son.  It was the perfect way to recover from a hard run and share some time with my family.  Note to self-Listening to your body is a good thing.
