Mar 16 **** Missing In Action **** Boston 2012

Friday morning, the end of the work week for some and the continuation of some tough workouts for me.  I was glad that I got up early enough to be at the gazebo and catch up with Becky and Susan.  Anne...where were you?  You were MIA (Missing In Action). Missed you and your stories.  Next time buddy.  I want to see that smiling face out there.

The warm weather was still present and I am not sure when its going to end.  I think I remember it snowing in Boston last year about two weeks before the race.  I am wishing for that same thing to happen this year.  I'm enjoying running in shorts, but this warm weather this time is year in Chicago is ridiculous.  Come on Mother Nature, help a runner out.  Let ol' man winter come out to play for a couple more weeks.

The run with Becky and Susan was fun.  We talked about their upcoming race, the Shamrock Shuffle.  I competed in that race once.  I think it is so cool that you run the streets of Chicago but the number of people that are running it with you scares me.  And the distance isn't long enough to spread out. It can be a pretty tight pack for awhile.  Maybe one day I'll go back down and run it with the Wolf Pack.

Today's schedule consisted of two workouts.  A run and a swim.

My morning workout was an easy 7.5 miles and I ran some of that with Becky and Susan.  I needed some easy miles as I was starting to feel a twinge of a pull in my hamstring and I was trying to baby it.  This is not the time in my training when I want to be injured.  Trying desperately to stay healthy.  By the time  got home, my hamstring was tight and I foam rolled to see if it would help.  It felt a little bit better but not even close to 100%.

My second workout for today was a swim.  The water felt good on my hamstring for awhile but when I got out of the pool, it tightened up.  Aaaargh.  Not good.  But at least I got my workout in and was done for the day.  Tomorrow was a day off and I am hoping that the rest will help me get ready for my long run on Sunday.
