April 14 ****2 Days and Counting ***** Boston 2012

Saturday morning and I managed to sleep in.  Crawled out of bed at 7:00 a.m.  The day is beginning and the temperature for the race tomorrow has climbed another 2 degrees.  Expected temp is 88 degree. DOUBLE YIKES!!!!!!!  Heading back to the Expo today to see if I can find some salt tablets which would help with the warm weather.  Otherwise, we will be heading to some running store today on a search and find mission.

Got dressed and headed out the door for my morning shake out run.  I have to admit, that with this taper, I have been getting kinda of cranky.  After running all those miles every week, its hard to slow down and think that in a few days you are still in good enough shape to cover 26.2 miles. That is the mental part of the taper. That mental part and I don't get along too well.  Anyway, the temp for my morning shake out was 48 degrees.  Yeah baby.  Through on my iPod and headed out for the short 2 mile run.  First song on the iPod, MmmmBop, followed by Don't Stop Believing.  Great way to start the run.  I high fived every runner that I saw along my journey and got lots of smiles, and high fives back.  Thought a lot about all of my running friends back at home.  Good thing the road was really wide because all of you were running with me.  I ran to the Expo which is 1.02 miles from my hotel. Round trip 2.04, and I headed back in to the room listening to the theme song from "Rocky"!  Wow all those songs from the shuffle mode.  GREAT way to get pumped for the day.

Showered and went to Alexanders for some breakfast. We found this place last year and liked the food, atmosphere and price so much we can back again.  Such a beautiful morning. Sat outside to eat it and watch the boats in the harbor.  Great morning.  Then I headed back to the Expo to check out some last minute stuff and met back up with John and Ian a bit later on.  Rested briefly then took a boat tour.  Got some great pictures of the city.  Back to the hotel and headed for 5 p.m. mass.  Prayed my heart out for some cooler weather.  Hope it worked. Stopped for dinner in North Boston.  Popped our heads into a firehouse to chat with the firemen and take some photos.  Great time!!!

Back to the hotel for a light swim and now heading to bed.  Early day tomorrow as Ian and I are running the Boston 5k.  Should be a great time.  Looking forward to running with my little man!  Good night all.  2 Days and Counting!!!!
